Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis may include fatigue, lack of appetite, low grade fever, and muscles and joint aches. Muscles and joint stiffness are usually felt during mornings and after a period of inactivity. During relapses (from inactivity to activity), joints become red, swollen, painful, and tender.
Many joints are usually inflamed and it often happens in a symmetrical pattern. Both of your hands and wrists might be affected. Tasks that are simple, like turning a door knob or opening a jar, can be painful. 
A rheumatologist is a doctor who specializes in diseases that cause inflammation, like arthritis. The rheumatologist will ask you about your symptoms and then look at your joints and other parts of your body for signs of inflammation. They will make a diagnosis based on the pattern of your symptoms, where the inflamed joints.
There is currently no cure for rheumatoid arthritis, but reducing joint inflammation and pain, maximizing joint function, and preventing joint destruction are the current goals of treatment. Early medical intervention has been found to improve outcomes in treatment. 
There are many things that go into the best treatment for arthritis. This includes a combination of medications, joint exercises, protection of joints, and patient education. The treatment plan is customized based on many factors such as how active the disease is, what type of joints are involved, general health, age and occupation.
