Newborn is prone for infection(sepsis), low sugar(hypoglycemia) , cold (hypothermia)

To prevent these, you should take care of the following things:
1. After birth, the baby should be put on feeding, preferably breastfeeding
2. Feed your child 2-3 hourly and complete one side of the breast 1st, then put on the other side if still hungry. ( Minimum 6-8 feeds per 24 hours including 2-3 feeds at night to prevent hypoglycemia and to promote growth)
3. Maintain cleanliness and hand hygiene..don't let so many people touch your child (to prevent infection)
4. Cover your baby adequately ( remember: newborn needs 1 more covering of clothes than adult) it will help to prevent hypothermia
5. Baby should be exclusively breastfed till 6 months..(there are so many advantages of breast milk over other formula milk)
