At some point, 80 percent of Indians will experience back pain. This might happen to you at some point. There are many things that can cause back pain, like stress, long hours at a desk or in front of a computer, high heels, poor posture, being overweight, and improper lifting.
To lift correctly, you should use your legs. Keep your back straight and keep the object close to your body. Don't bend over what you are lifting and try not to twist or turn your body. It is always better to push a heavy object rather than pull it.
Regular exercise is important for your back. Exercise makes your back stronger and more flexible. Walking is a good exercise to do because it engages your core stabilizing muscles.
Taking some time to stretch before and/or after exercise, or even after a long day, can help release tension and improve flexibility.
If you have to drive a long way, stop regularly to stretch and take a break. If you fly often, get up and move around the plane to loosen up your back.
Wear shoes that have a heel that is one inch or lower. Heels can cause back pain because they change the alignment of your back.
If you stand a lot, it is a good idea to rest one foot on a low stool. This will help relieve pressure on your lower back. You can also alternate feet every 15 to 20 minutes.
Extra weight on your body can cause stress on your back. If you are overweight, try to lose some of that weight. Your back will thank you for it.
Make sure you stand up straight. Try to have your ears, shoulders and hips directly below each other. Keep your head up (not pulled forward) and your stomach in.
There are different ways to sleep that are good for your back. sleeping on your side with a small pillow between your knees is one way. If you're a back sleeper, putting a pillow under your knees can help support the natural curvature of your back.
If you have problems with your back, it is a good idea to get help from a massage therapist, an acupuncturist, or a chiropractor. These professionals can help keep your back healthy. If you have a painful episode, they can help relieve the pain and get you back to your regular activities.
